We provide bookable individual study space at the Bill Bryson Library (BBL) and the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) for Durham University members. Bookable household study space is available at the Teaching and Learning Centre.

In addition, there are other study spaces available throughout campus and some external to the University (e.g. Hotel Indigo) — please click on the tabs above to learn more.

Bookable study spaces at BBL and TLC

Currently, you can book the following study spaces per calendar week (Sunday - Saturday):

  • up to four slots per week for the Bill Bryson Library study spaces, plus four slots per week for late night Stay and Study (Disability Support room bookings are included within this).

  • an additional four slots per week in the Teaching and Learning Centre, for either individual study spaces or household study spaces (e.g. four individual slots, four household slots or a combination of each type per week).

Please note, you are not able to choose a study room as an option when you book. Your study space is allocated by the system, limited to floor level when you book using our Space Bookings system. Disability Support rooms are available to students who have an assessed need to access these spaces.

We are now offering online lecture study spaces at Bill Bryson Library (as of Monday 26 October) and Leazes Road (as of 2 November) - please see our online lecture study spaces guide for more information.

If you wish to return books, borrow books, or get help with a library enquiry, please see our Using the Library Guide

If you have symptoms of Covid-19 or have received a positive test result, you should self-isolate, book a Covid-19 test and inform the University - you must not visit the Library. Please visit our webpages for full details.
