Our services: Using the Library: How do I make a DDS request?

Current services available

Due to the on-going COVID-19 situation we are predominantly supplying chapters and articles from e-books or e-journals. Only a handful of our usual suppliers are able to make scans from physical items at this time. We are now able to offer a limited lending service, primarily from The British Library.

Delivery times will be longer than usual due to pressures on the supplying libraries and not everything will be available.

How do I make a DDS request?

The Document Delivery Service (DDS) allows staff and students of Durham University to obtain material not currently held by the Library.

  • Use the links above to tell us what you want and we will email you when the item is available.

  • Articles can be delivered direct to your Durham University email, or you can use the delivery options on the request form to ask for a paper copy.

  • Books will be held at the Bill Bryson Library for collection. You will be emailed when the book arrives. Most books can be borrowed for around 5 weeks, but the length of loans vary.
